Embrace the therapeutic power of art.

This workshop offers a unique blend of therapeutic drawing techniques, mindfulness activities, and inspiring stories to help participants channel their restlessness into artistic expression. Through live demonstrations, downloadable worksheets, and engaging exercises, discover how to harness the power of art for creative calm.

Participants will explore various therapeutic drawing techniques designed to soothe the mind and promote relaxation. Mindfulness activities integrated into the workshop will teach attendees how to focus their thoughts and be present in the moment, enhancing their creative process. Stories of famous creative insomniacs will provide inspiration and demonstrate how sleeplessness can be a catalyst for artistic brilliance.

The workshop also offers practical tips on using art as a tool for achieving a state of creative calm, turning the challenges of insomnia into opportunities for self-expression.

Materials:

  • A journal or notebook
  • Drawing and sketching materials of any kind, including dry and wet materials and materials for adding color
  • Paper or a sketchbook
  • Comfortable clothing you can move freely in

Mindful Rest

Learn mindfulness practices & create your own

I will guide you through a short mindfulness practice and a mindful check-in before we begin our session. We will focus on breathing and present moment awareness to create more ease and calm in the mind and body. No meditation or mindfulness experience is necessary.

These mindfulness practices are simple and accessible for everyone.

This online workshop is suitable for ALL LEVELS – However, please get in touch with me if you have any questions about what to expect.

Supplies

Feel free to sit on in the same chair you will use for the drawing portion of the workshop and you are also welcome to sit on a yoga mat, bolster, zafu if you have one. Comfortable clothing is encouraged.

We’ll learn the mindfulness practices used by artists who have struggled with challenges around sleep and the techniques they use to achieve a state of creative calm.

We’ll discuss the concept of embracing a “night practice” and the idea of creating a “night self” as a way to be inspired by the challenges of insomnia. You don’t have to be sleep-challenged to learn these techniques or enjoy these simple practices!

As always, this workshop will inspire you to engage in fun and innovative techniques, relay captivating stories and focus on fascinating themes designed to inform and inspire your own everyday artistic practice.

Live demos will guide you step-by-step through different art exercises, with an opportunity to create and share at the end.
